Antiformin S Detergent - 25kg

Antiformin S is a combined caustic chlorine detergent suitable for a wide range of cleaning and disinfecting duties.

Antifomin S is a sequestered blend of sodium hypochlorite and caustic. It is ideal because of its low cost and highly effective dual-purpose nature as a detergent and sterilant. Due to its presence of chlorine, however, temperatures of this product should not exceed 50°C.

The caustic formulation deals with hard-dried yeast and hop residues, and the chlorinated formulation disinfects efficiently, making it ideal for vessel washing, CIP, cask washing and general cleaning.

Antiformin S is suitable for use in hard water areas and can be used on stainless steel, copper and plastics.

Benefits

  • Caustic formulation deals with hard-dried yeast and hop residues
  • Chlorinated formulation disinfects efficiently
  • Ideal for vessel washing, CIP, cask washing, general cleaning
  • Ideal for use in hard water areas
  • It can be used on stainless steel, copper and plastics

Principle

Antiformin S is a food-safe, concentrated liquid detergent/disinfectant solution and probably the most universally used and effective branded product in the brewing industry. It is uniquely formulated to give a stable, powerful cleaning and disinfecting action and is readily rinsable. The product can be used in any application where the soiling is light and a disinfecting action is required after cleaning. Where the soil is heavy and contains proteins, dextrins, cellulose, mucilage, pectin or tannin, etc and a disinfecting agent is not required, hot caustic solutions are more appropriate for routine cleaning.

Guidelines for use

  • Check that the product is within its shelf life before use
  • Contact time is 15-20 minutes
  • Do not mix with acids
  • Do not use on aluminium, zinc, brass or galvanised surface
  • Do not use a concentration >2.5% on stainless steel surfaces
  • Do not exceed temperatures of 50°C as the rate of chlorine loss will accelerate markedly.
  • Read the Safety Data Sheet prior to use

Application and rates of use

Antiformin S rates usually are 1-2% in water, but this may vary depending on application and degree of soiling. Elevated temperatures can increase cleaning power; however, the maximum temperature to use Antiformin S is 50°C as the rate of chlorine loss will accelerate markedly.

Stainless Steel Vessels

The strength of the solution should not exceed 2.5% when in contact with stainless steel. Some older tank liners can react with the product to produce a phenolic taint. The importance of thorough cold water rinsing after cleaning Antiformin S cannot be overemphasised, particularly in the case of beer vessels.

Soak Baths

A 1% solution is appropriate for soak bath applications. Soaked hoses and fittings should be rinsed thoroughly with water before use.

Scrub down walls and floors.

A 5% solution of the product can be used to scrub down walls and floors to remove and inhibit subsequent growth of mould, algae and yeast.

Storage and shelf life

  • Store in cool conditions away from direct sunlight
  • Keep in the original container.
  • Keep containers sealed when not in use.
  • Maximum storage temperature is 15°C.
  • The recommended storage temperature is 10°C
  • Do not allow the product to freeze.
  • Under recommended storage conditions, the shelf life for a minimum 95% retention of available chlorine is three months. Beyond this, a further loss of chlorine content will occur.
