What are Cider Making Kits?

Cider is an extremely popular beverage, with the UK being the world’s largest cider consumer. The nation’s love of cider is thanks to the sweet, juicy taste synonymous with the beverage. Now, you can have the satisfaction of brewing your own with our cider-making starter kits, suitable for newbies and more experienced brewers.

Cider-making kits contain concentrated fruit juice and flavourings, and some even contain additives to enhance cider flavours during fermentation. Home Brewers then rehydrate the fruit concentrate and ferment it with the yeast included. This creates the perfect homemade cider you can enjoy in the comfort of your home at a fraction of the price of shop-bought brands with your own cider brewing kit.

Starting a new hobby and investing in brewing equipment can be a somewhat daunting and expensive process, especially if you’re unsure where to start. Get Er Brewed to support the nation’s homebrewers by providing objective advice on the type of kit you need and which is best suited to your purposes. So whether you’re looking to create drinks for your family and friends and social events or just for you to enjoy, our brewing experts can help you. Talk to us if you have any questions.

Available in several flavours and fruit varieties, including apple, pear, mango, fruit forest, peach and more, there are almost endless flavour possibilities that will allow you to perfect the craft. Plus, your homebrew cider kit allows you to enjoy the fruits of your labour within 4 short weeks, so you’ll be enjoying your own homemade cider sooner than you think.

Is it Easy to Use a Cider Brewing Kit?

Yes, absolutely! Even if you’re entirely inexperienced in using your cider-making starter kit, each kit comes with detailed instructions to help you brew successfully. You can create a great-tasting cider from your first batch, so don’t think a lack of experience will affect the taste!

As with any hobby, you can invest as much time and money as you like. There are also plenty of online resources that share excellent cider-making tips. As you brew more cider, you’ll perfect your methods and potentially even experiment with new flavours.

You may even want to diversify later and try one of our homebrew beer kits or wine-making kits.

How do Homebrew Cider Kits Work?

Depending on the type of kit you buy, each one will have slightly different instructions. The cider-making starter kits are based on concentrated fruit juice, so depending on your flavour, you’ll have the right ingredients for that particular cider.

Some cider brewing kits contain sugar, but sugar is not required in others. You’ll have everything you need in our homebrew cider kits to create the perfect recipe, so there’s no need to purchase extra ingredients (unless you want to). Don’t forget, if you’re ever unsure about which type is best for you, talk to our in-house experts, who’d love to match you with the perfect product.

How to Successfully use your Cider Making Kit

It's simple to make good cider if you follow the following:

  • Sterilisation - make sure everything is sterile that you are using during the process. This is simple to do with our Geterbrewed Oxi No Rinse product. Bacteria, bugs and other forms of contamination can cause a brew to turn nasty.
  • Read the instructions - As basic as this sounds; you need to get the concentrations right and brew the ingredients correctly in your cider-making starter kit. This could significantly affect your brew’s flavour.
  • Ensure the fermentation temperature is monitored - you want to achieve a constant fermentation temperature. Your homebrew cider kit should allow fermentation at around 15 degrees for the ideal fruity cider.
