Pop Original Blend Cryo Hop Pellets / USA / 2022 / AA: 23.9% - 1KG

In 2017, Yakima Chief Hops launched a line of innovative hop products known as Cryo Hops® -- a cryogenic hop-processing technology that separates whole cones into two components—concentrated lupulin and bract. These concentrated lupulin pellets give brewers maximum aroma impact while reducing the negative effects often experienced with today's high hopping rates.

They combined this novel process with a cutting-edge lab analysis to create Cryo Pop® blends. YCH's R&D facility houses one of the only labs in the world with the capability to analyze previously undetectable aromatic components, allowing the identification of those with the greatest potential of showing up in finished beers. This blend of Cryo Hops® pellets contains hop varieties that are loaded with beer-soluble compounds that survive harsh brewing processes, including heat, fermentation and CO2 scrubbing. By maximizing concentrations of the most impactful and complementary hop compounds, YCH offers an incredibly powerful hop pellet that creates a true 'pop' of aromas in beers. Formerly known as trial blend TRI 2304CR, the Cryo Pop® Original Blend delivers massive tropical, stone fruit, and citrus aromas.

Cryo Hops® pellets are the concentrated lupulin of whole-leaf hops containing resins and aromatic oils. It is designed to provide intense hop flavour and aroma. This enables brewers to efficiently dose large quantities of alpha acids and oils without introducing astringent flavours or vegetative material. Cryo Hops® pellets can be utilized anywhere whole-leaf hops, and hop pellets are traditionally applied.

ADVANTAGES

  • Nearly twice the resin content of traditional T-90 hop pellets
  • Intense contribution of hop flavour and aroma
  • Reduced grassy and vegetal characteristics
  • Increased yield through reduced brewhouse and cellar trub
  • Cost savings and net increases in revenue per batch

HOW TO BREW WITH CRYO HOPS®?

It is recommended to adapt any recipe by substituting 40g of Cryo Hops pellets, 25g of T-90 pellets or 15g of American Noble Hops pellets for every 100g of T-90 used. For new recipes, we recommend starting with an estimated dosing rate of Cryo Hops pellets at 40-50% of T-90 hop pellets by weight. Cryo Hops can be utilized anywhere. Whole leaf hops and hop pellets are traditionally applied.
Kettle: Late additions only; early ones should be avoided to prevent boiling out the intense aroma characteristics.
Post-Boil/Whirlpool: Whirlpool additions are an excellent way to increase aroma and reduce trub load from large, late additions..
Fermentation: Using Cryo Hops® pellets in the fermenter is an excellent way to increase aroma while reducing trub loss.
Dry hopping: An excellent way to harness the massive aroma and flavour characteristics of Cryo Hops while reducing trub loss. Cryo Hops will settle out during normal conditioning and can be fined, filtered, or centrifuged as normal.
