Home brewers can be particularly tough on pH meters. One of the most common mistakes is placing the probe directly into hot wort. The glass membrane at the tip of the probe is also delicate and can be damaged if the probe is dropped or mishandled.

This replacement probe comes with a protective cap containing a small sponge. The sponge is pre saturated with pH storage solution (KCl 3 mol/L), which helps maintain the correct hydration level of the electrode during storage. Keeping the probe moist is essential for preserving measurement accuracy and prolonging the life of the electrode.

The probe cap also features a watertight O ring seal designed to prevent the storage solution from drying out. Proper storage is critical, as a probe that dries out will lose accuracy and significantly reduce its working lifespan.

For long term maintenance, the pH storage solution can also be purchased separately.
